While Bo is a Portuguese Water Dog, introduced by Ty after his namesake (the real Bo). Arrived at the White House April 14, 2009. The real Bo was a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy to the Obama family. Also Bo was named by Malia and Sasha Obama. Therefore the popular media take is that Bo is the namesake of deceased singer Bo Diddley, but it seems more likely Bo’s name is derived from the initials of Barack Obama.

While there are four versions of Bo. Also the first three versions were available only in select stores, in very limited quantities. Therefore there are minor but noticeable differences between the versions like fur length, style of nose, height, tail shape, etc.
